Swiss Hotel Management Education – Study in Lucerne, not only a HUB for tourism!

  • Every day thousands of tourists are strolling around beautiful Lucerne, sipping coffee after extensive shopping or after a nice walk along Lake Lucerne’s shoreline. Lucerne has established a reputation as a worldwide tourism hub and its monuments such as the modern KKL building and famous wooden medieval Chapel bridge are well known all over the world. Lucerne, like no other city really represents the “chocolate side” of Switzerland.

Lucerne is perhaps less known for its educational capacity, but this is for sure to change over the next years. Lucerne is not only a great place for a Swiss holiday experience, but also perfect for any international student who wants to be well prepared for an ever changing global economy.

Lucerne – a beautiful lively city embedded in a dreamlike natural environment, traditional yet contemporary – it is a fun place for young people to enjoy a fresh drink at any of the restaurants along the lake and river. At the same time, they can work on their projects by accessing the internet through Lucerne’s unique and free wireless city Internet. Because of the many tourists, it is rather easy to communicate almost anywhere in town since most locals are able to speak at least some basic English. Being at the true heart of Europe, Lucerne is built as an ideal starting point for other European cities, a 5-hour train-trip brings you to Paris, a flight ticket with any budget airline can bring you to London for as low as 30 US$. Access to various traditional as well as extreme-sports like mountain biking, sailing, skiing, all kind of watersports and more ensures that not only the brainwaves are kept active.

You may think that the German language may be a problem for your studies, but actually more and more international schools are available in the Lucerne area and English has become an important second language even in the local primary schools where it is replacing French. All of the international schools have a 100% English curriculum.  Students in some cases can join some intensive English language courses to prepare them for further studies.

Although studying in Switzerland seems more costly compared to other countries, Switzerland is famous for its “value for money”. Moreover, the educational system in Switzerland is surely among the best in Europe – ranked 8th out of 30. International schools in Lucerne attract not only students but also renowned international professors who always love to come to Switzerland for educational assignments and guest lecturing.

Most of international schools around Lucerne are working in close relationship with Luzern Tourism and such relations enable many collaborations and greater access to edutaining fieldtrips in addition to project and research work. Because Lucerne is an international tourism hub already, local people are open to foreigners in the city and treat them fairly and warmheartedly.

If all the above reasons are not enough to send your beloved ones to study here in Lucerne, consider the fact that Lucerne is one of the safest places in the world. A 2007 survey from the largest Newspaper BLICK, ranked Lucerne First as the cleanest, as well as the safest city with the highest level in social care among all other Swiss cities. If you wish to provide your children with the best access to a competitive and global education in a safe and beautiful environment, don’t look further and check on the Lucerne educational portal “www.studyinlucerne.com” for the educational institute of your choice.

    A statement from M. Esposito.

Luzern is a city which enchants visitors and residents, for its simplicity, practicality and just that sense of ” zeitgeist”….

Surrounded by mountains, it offers great sport opportunities all year around and the glimmering colours of the Lake Lucerne, shed light to the city and its inhabitants. Luzern is home to some of the most exclusive hospitality venues and students enjoy the benefit of a long established tradition coupled with the beauty of the sceneries and the young population which bring to life the many cafes’ and bars at night.

Crossroad of Europe, Luzern offers to students the possibility to visit every country in just few hours away and its fast trained connection to Zurich airport connects “heaven” to the world…..

A statement from Dr James Fay a noted American economist who has worked in a number of countries around the world, including Switzerland, on economic development and globalization issues has this to say about studying in Lucerne.

” I would highly recommend sending young adults to study in Switzerland. From personal experience I know that the quality of teaching is excellent and that the environment is conducive for study both because of the intrinsic beauty of the country and the safety that the Swiss people are so rightly proud about.”

A statement from Professor Dr. Lloyd C. Williams.  Dr. Williams was voted oustanding Professor 2007 from the U21 Global University in Singapore and Outstanding Online Educator 2007 from U21 Global University.  He was also an outstanding professor for Capella University in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and outstanding faculty member in Business, Psychology and Ethics from Argosy University.  Dr. Williams is currently the Vice President of Academic Affairs at the Swiss Management Center in Zug and Vienna Austria.  He is the Chief Executive Officer of the Institute for Transformative Thought and Learning, a research, organizational psychological change, and ethics based in the United States, Canada and Switzerland. He heads the academic advisory board with IMI University Centre based in Lucerne.

Studying in Switzerland and Luzern continues to provide enormous opportunity for learners of all ages to explore a cosmopolitan experience where engagement of persons from multiple cultures in multiple fields of study can enrich the educational experience that one can have.  As a psychologist, educator, speaker and consultant – Luzern remains a city that offers opportunity for each person to grow, change and become more what he/she desires in crafting a future professionally.  From an exploration perspective, Luzern remains a major “jumping off point” for experiencing the rest of Europe.  Walking across the bridge in “downtown Luzern” is like travelling through Europe …an excellent experience for everyone!!

One of the frequent sights in Switzerland are the Swiss children walking to school by themselves as a symbol of a safe environment as well for foreign students coming for their education of choice.
